Alumni Association Staff

Hannah (Kuno) Abel is originally from Montevideo and attended SMSU for both her undergraduate ('18) and graduate ('21) degrees. She is excited to continue sharing her passion and love for SMSU and is eager to work closely with the University and Marshall community as well as fostering and strengthening the relationship with our SMSU alumni. Hannah currently resides in Marshall with her husband, Seth, who is also an SMSU alum, and their two Labradors, Max and Stanley.  

Emmanuel, originally from Nairobi, Kenya, holds a diploma in Project Planning and Management from the University of Nairobi. He earned his undergraduate degree in International Business and Trade from the African Leadership University in Kigali, Rwanda, as part of the Class of 2022. Emmanuel is currently pursuing his MBA at Southwest Minnesota State University (SMSU), with an anticipated graduation in 2025. In his role as a Graduate Assistant, he is committed to strengthening relationships between SMSU, current students, its alumni, and the broader community, while supporting the university’s mission to promote engagement, growth, and academic excellence.

Jackson holds degrees in both Accounting and Biology from SMSU, which he earned as a part of this past spring's graduating class of 2024. He currently is pursuing his MBA at SMSU, for which he has an expected graduation date of Spring, 2026. Additionally, Jackson is busy with coaching high school football and wrestling, and is working in the Marshall School District as a paraprofessional. As a Graduate Assistant, his role is to assist with the setup and coordination of GOLD College events and classes, monitor and examine the logistics that are attached to GOLD College as well as fostering and maintaining lines of communication both with and between GOLD College students and instructors, all while supporting SMSU's mission to promote engagement within the community.
